Top Ten

Since June and July were such CRAZY months, here is my top ten of the last six weeks:
1. While vacationing at the Oregon Coast, my sister Hannah caught a ladybug and showed it to Jackson...who promptly ate it. No worries though, Hannah fished it out of his mouth--still alive!
2. It's amazing that Jackson is still alive after the incidents he's had lately. At the beach house he tumbled down 5 wooden stairs (thanks grandpa) and scratched his face on some rocks when I fell holding him (thanks me). A couple weeks later Jackson was watching a softball game and spotted a dog. He ran straight for the dog who barked at him and made Jackson cry and cry. While running away from the dog, he ran smack into the handle of the chalking machine which was right at the face height. Glad kids are resilient.
3. As we were enjoying the beachy atmosphere flying kites and drawing in the sand, Greg emerges wearing his swimming shorts and rash guard. After three attempts he finally made it all the way in the cold Oregon water and played for a long time. He was the only one over 9 years old that went in the water the entire trip.
4. We played this great new game that we call WeTunes. Everyone sits in a large circle and each person creates a part of a beat and each person adds on. The last person has to sing or dance to the beat everyone is doing. It's so fun that we always end up laughing before we can get to the last person.
5. We waited in line at Mo's (a seafood place famous for their clam chowder) and there was a mixup in the wait time they told us and the actual time we were seated. The manager came up to Greg and gave him a 15 dollar credit to his meal for the long wait. I wish everywhere did that.
6. While trying to introduce Greg to Harry Potter (this wasn't my first time) he let us watch the third and fourth movie on consecutive days, and now he's actually excited (he might say "willing") to see the next one!
7. We had our 3rd anniversary on the trip so we decided to delay the celebration. Greg surprised me with three great books (one of them being a reservation for the last Harry Potter book!). I somehow was able to finagle a weekend at Cannon Beach at Ron's beach house (thanks Ron!) and surprised Greg with a voucher for a "Jackson-Free" weekend! We can't wait to go!
8. After the trip my parents spent some time with us in Wilsonville. We all went Berry Picking in the morning at a local farm and picked about 4 pounds of berries...and my parents gave them all to us! It was like berry heaven--oh wait I think that's Jamba Juice.
9. Just before the trip I found 29 dollar flights to Boise and I couldn't pass them up! Jackson and I leave Monday for our 5 day stay with Amber and the family.
10. One of the days at the Coast we made the trek down to Florence to see some gigantic Sea Lion caves. It has an elevator that takes you down to the caves. While we were packed in the elevator with a mass of people, one of the strangers starts talking to us,
"is your last name Rose?"
"Yes"
"I recognize you, I used to work in the player guest ticket window at the Marriott Center"
Small world!!

29 dollar flights, weekends at beachhouses...man you guys have the life. haha. Mike liked the dog story. I am quite proud of Greg for getting in the water too! When are you going to find a flight to Vegas for 29 dollars?

It made me laugh that your no. 1 of the top ten was Jackson and the lady bug. You should have put the picture on there that your dad took of the lady bug after it was retrieved from Jackson's mouth!! I love that Greg got in the water. He has some Oregon blood running through his veins. Look on Brittany's blog at her blackberry dumpling recipe. You could do that with all the fresh berries you pick. Man, if only there was a $29 flight between here and Portland. No such luck!
